A primeira etapa da vacinação contra a febre aftosa deste ano de 2009 será iniciada dia 1° do mês de maio. Foi o que informou o diretor da Agência de Defesa Agropecuária do Piauí (Adapi), José Antônio Filho, acrescentando que a meta é vacinar todo o rebanho de bovinos e búfalos.Pelo menos 300 técnicos da Adapi atuarão nesse trabalho.A campanha contra a febre aftosa será realizada em todos os municípios, sendo que as farmácias de produtos agrope-cuários começarão a vender a vacina a partir do dia 1º de maio.
"O criador deve vacinar o rebanho e procurar os postos de certificação levando a nota fiscal da vacina e a quantidade de animais", enfatiza José Antônio.A previsão é de que, em agosto próximo, o Piauí receba uma auditoria para fazer a classificação de mudança de área de risco desconhecido para risco médio.
A expectativa é de que a partir de 2010 o Piauí fique livre da aftosa com a vacinação.Nos próximos dias, acontecerá toda uma mobilização dos criadores para a importância da vacinação do rebanho contra a aftosa, envolvendo os meios de comunicação, palestras e outras iniciativas. Um técnico do Ministério do Abastecimento e Pecuária (Mapa) virá a Teresina proferir palestra sobre a febre aftosa. Os criadores também têm o apoio do Emater, Embrapa Meio Norte e de outros órgãos.
